New safety protocol

We have always used best practices in the use of sanitation & hygiene at Rochester Therapeutic Massage.  To ensure we are doing everything we can to minimise your exposure to Covid-19, we’ll be implementing new safety protocols in accordance with CDC guidelines as well as requirements from New York State with measures we’ve already been practicing before this pandemic.

Less people in the office

We have chosen to limit to one therapist working per day. This means that appointments are limited at this time. We will work with you and try to accommodate you the best we can.

Longer breaks between appointments

We are taking a full 60 minutes in between each client to properly sanitize the treatment room and office. This means that we’ll be starting right on time for each appointment, as well as ending at the scheduled end time for every appointment. We will not go over appointment times as we need that time to clean, so please be on time, if not a couple of minutes early.

Cleaning protocol for the treatment room

  • Table are stripped of sheets, headrest covers, blankets and anything the client has touched.

  • Headrest and surrounding areas are properly sanitized with disinfectant.

  • Bolster is disinfected as well as pillows having additional coverings which are switched out between each use.

  • As always, clean sheets, clean face rest covers, and clean blankets are used for every client.

  • Quick vacuum to clean the floor between each client.

  • Disinfecting wipes/spray is used to clean the door and door handles, desk, pens, and everything clients could have touched or we touched ourselves.

  • A medical grade air purifier is running the entire day to ensure proper clean airflow.

Cleaning protocol for the therapist

  • Our hands and forearms up to our elbows are washed for at least 20 seconds before and after each massage and after we clean.

  • Masks are optional at this time, for both clients and therapists.

Additional protocols & guidelines for your appointment

  • Massage is contraindicated for anyone in the high risk category for COVID-19 as per CDC guidelines. We cannot 100% ensure your safety when you’re in our office due to the highly contagious nature of this virus. If you are in this category, you should wait to schedule until cases in our area are non-existent.

  • If you have been exposed to COVID, you need to wait 14 days from exposure to book an appointment with us.

  • As we cannot 100% ensure your safety, clients will sign a liability release to receive massage. Clients will have to fill out a new intake form with questions related to Covid-19 before treatment.

  • We must emphasize that if you are sick in any way, reschedule your appointment.

  • Masks are optional during the intake process at the beginning of appointments and after the massage.

  • We do have hand sanitizer throughout the office & treatment rooms and you are encouraged to use them before & after your appointment.

  • If you are not feeling well the day of your appointment, please reschedule. If you show up to our office sick, we will refuse treatment.

  • We ask that you call to cancel or reschedule if you have any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

New cancellation policy

The 24 hour notice to cancel appointments is waived during this time. If you are not feeling well the day of your appointment, please reschedule. If you do show up to our office sick, we will refuse treatment. Likewise, if at any time we're not feeling well for any reason, we'll cancel all our appointments for that day and make sure we do not return to work until we know it is safe for us to do so.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to reach us by calling/texting (585) 485-9983 or emailing us at roctherapeuticmassage@gmail.com. We hope everyone is staying healthy & well during these strange times and we look forward to seeing you soon!
