Rochester Therapeutic Massage Weekly Newsletter

Week of September 16, 2018

What’s Happening: We are adding IASTM to our add on menu! IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation. A clinician, such as a Licensed Massage Therapist, uses hand-held tools to help treat clients with soft tissue dysfunction. After an injury, the area is usually inflamed. That is a sign that the body is working on healing the injured area, which can create scar tissue. Scar tissue is formed in a haphazard pattern, which can make the area weaker or have limited mobility. IASTM can help to reorganize the direction of the fibers, making the area more resilient.

We will be providing chair massage at the Community Garage Sale, Saturday 9/22/18 from 9am - 2pm at NVP Sports Park. They are located at 701 Phillips Rd., Webster NY 14580.

Hydration Recipe

Keeping hydrated is an important part of staying healthy. Water promotes cardiovascular health, keeps your body cool, helps muscles and joints work better and keeps skin supple. Here is this week’s hydration recipe:

Cantaloupe Mint Water

½ cantaloupe, sliced (skin removed)

8 leaves mint, muddled

Add cantaloupe and mint to a pitcher of water. Refrigerate overnight to infuse the flavors.

Words To Live By

WHO you are is what makes you special. Do not change for anyone.

WHAT lies ahead will always be a mystery. Do not be afraid to explore.

WHEN life pushes you over, you push back harder.

WHERE there are choices to make, make the one you won't regret.

WHY things happen will never be certain. Take it in stride and move forward.
